Job Title: Excavation Project Manager
Location: Eugene, Oregon – Onsite

 

Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Excavation Project Manager to lead our team and ensure the successful execution of excavation and site preparation projects. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of project management experience, specifically in excavation and earthwork within the construction industry. You will be responsible for managing project costs, timelines, and resources from start to finish, ensuring that all excavation projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as you will be coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and team members to meet project goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Project Estimation:
    • Prepare accurate project estimates for excavation, site prep, and related work, covering labor, materials, and equipment.
    • Develop competitive cost proposals and timelines, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
    • Submit detailed bids, ensuring compliance with both client specifications and industry standards.

 

  • Project Management:
    • Lead all phases of excavation projects, from planning to completion, with a focus on quality, safety, and budget adherence.
    • Develop and manage project schedules, allocate resources, and oversee subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
    • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and local building codes throughout the excavation process.

 

  • Client and Team Communication:
    • Serve as the primary contact for clients, ensuring their project vision is realized from site preparation to project closeout.
    • Lead regular progress meetings and ensure clear communication with all stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure project alignment.

 

  • Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
    • Identify potential risks, such as site conditions or delays, and implement contingency plans to mitigate them.
    • Handle on-site challenges swiftly, making informed decisions to maintain project flow and quality.

 

  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive project records, including contracts, change orders, and financial reports.
    • Provide transparent, regular updates on project progress, costs, and timelines to clients and internal stakeholders.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of project management experience in the excavation or earthwork industry.
  • Associate’s degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, site prep, and related construction practices.
  • Proven experience in project estimation and budgeting for excavation and site development projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret excavation plans, site layouts, and construction blueprints.
  • Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools, and MS Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and best practices for excavation projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing subcontractors and leading excavation crews.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with the latest industry trends and advancements in excavation technology.
